Comments:	Cast your minds back to June 1948. Location: Haifa. Palestine. On the jetty there was a detachment of Royal Marines from HMS PHOEBE under the command of Captain M.B.REYNOLDS. R.M. The occasion was for the lowering of the last Union Flag, marking the end of the British Mandate in Palestine. Israel was born. Are there any Royals who were there that day still in circulation?

Comments:	Ray Prince was the finest example of a real Royal Marine who earned the respect of all who knew him, and was for me the best Sgt.Major I ever served with, and became a much valued friend. His range of skills and talents were impressive, and all were exercised with cheerful enthusiasm. My thoughts will always be for the example he set us, and for his family.

Comments:	I served with the Corps from Sept 1972 until my discharge in May 1981. I would urge anyone reading this to read an article on Yahoo news 17th March 2010. It is about M.P.`s awarding themselves medals for visiting troops in conflict zones attached to the article is a link to a petition to the current Prime Minister to stop this immediately and has been signed by several former R.M.s including atleast one officer .
