It has been a long time and reading some of the guest scribes reminds me to be in line. This kind of link, whilst a good contact tool makes open to all for a good nose about.Past and present my respects.
Thirty year rule eh?
Yes I would join the R.M.A.
At the present time [and I would like it to be different] I am semi – retired but still looking for some work.
A lot worse of I know,
Thank you sir.

I am the wife of the late RM 26399 Bishop who served with 3 Commando attached to 42. Roy -taff- as he was known to many died very suddenly on 6th December 2011. My son organised the Marine beret and flag for the funeral. We left Plymouyh 1974 after our first son Gerald was born and moved to Swansea. I just wanted to let the friends that served with Roy to know. Thanks

Funeral arrangements for the late Eddie McCann:
By way of a follow up to my previous message [left on this site on the 18th December 2012], the following funeral details were posted by Willy Barr on the OAMAAM site [Obituaries page] on the 17th January 2012. It reads:
“Have just got Eddie’s funeral details: Wednesday 1st February at 11:00 hrs at the Western Mill Cemetary Plymouth followed by a wake at the Hyde Park Social Club Mutley/Peverell. I have also arranged for a piper but unfortunately Iam unable to attend due to the fact that I will be stuck on a oil rig. So a good turn out lads and a toast to Eddie. Willy Barr.”
No other deatials given.

I had the honor of serving with the Royal Marines in an exchange program with the U.S. Marines. I attended a cold weather training evolution in Scotland and Norway in the early 90′s. I would like to track down Marine Justin Hansell. I believe he was at one point a police officer. If anyone is in contact with him or anyone else I had served with and could pass on my info it would be appreciated.

Al McCoy USMC:
Sorry Al this has nothing to do with your request for help in locating the former RM WO2 Chris Taylor – which I gather has already been answered – how’s that for service?
I have a similar request to ask of you? I have tried for a goods many years to establish ‘comms’ once again with a former Staff/Sgt in the USMC by the name of Ken Fry his wife Teressa and their two daughters Nadine and Vicky. I believe Nadine joined the USAF and for a while served in the UK?
I was fortunate to stay at the Marine Bks at the Naval Station in Annapoilis for some 6/8weeks in 1986 whilst en-route to New York in the Royal Martines Sail Training Craft HMSTC Per Mare. My self and various crew’s [all RM's + one US Marine] were sailing up the east coast to New York were we had been invited to take part in the Parade of Sail mark the ‘Centenary’ celebrations of the Statue of Liberty in NY Harbour on the 4th July 1986.
The CO of the Marine Bks at the time was Major Dan O’Brian USMC,
neither he nor his Officers, SNCO’s or Marines, nor the US Naval side of the station, including the civvilian staff could do enough for myself and my various crew’s during our stay there. It was a memorable experience for every one!
Ken Fry and his wife Teressa took a particular interest in our ‘welfare’ throughout that period and we did maintain contact for a brief period after I sailed from Annapolis but sadly that contact was broken shortly after I had sailed back to the UK in late August of that same year. I would be very grateful if you might be able to ‘advise’ me on how best I can re-establish ‘comms’ with Ken and his family once again?
Cheer’s

It’s with deep regret that I report that former Royal Marine Eddy McCann ‘crossed the bar’ yesterday at St Lukes Hospice in Plymouth.
I last saw Eddy in October when he discharged himself from the hospice for the weekend so he could join myself and other former RM’s from 40 and 42 Cdo in Exmouth where we were celebrating our third reunion and shared time in Singapore in 1967/8.
It was obvious to us all over that weekend that Eddy was very ill, that said, it didn’t stop or hinder him from joining in with all our activities. These included a lengthy visit to CTC on the Saturday and ‘social’ visits to both the Exmouth and Exeter RMA’s over the same weekend.
He will be missed by many, not least those lucky enough to have known and served with him.
R.I.P Eddy – time to put your feet up!

Hello Rupert
I attended Major General Houghton’s funeral becuse I had know him for several years and met Ian Moore there who I had not seen since 1963 in 42 Cdo.
I have now retired to East Sussex from Bath. I travelled to the Far East in October this year and visited Kranji War Memorial and Cemetery. The graves of our friends who died at Limbang and other parts of Malaysia are being very well looked after by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The Cemetery Manager MR Kannaya Somu kannaya.somu@cwgc.org was very helpful in providing relevant information. I visited the graves of Sgt MacFarlane and Gerald Kierans. Ronald Formoy’s ashes are in special area within the Cemetery. I understand that Richard Jennings and Fred Powell’s were returned home. This month it is 49 years since they were killed and I know they are not forgotten.
On return I attended Jimmy Savile’s funeral in Leeds as I took him through part of his training and kept in touch with him over the years. see Yorkshire Post entry.

Do you still have the same Hotmail address.
Best wishes to you all for Christmas and New Year.
